I am writing to recommend West Hartford Pet Sitters. In February 2006, my wife Stacie and I required the services of a professional pet sitter for our dear family cat, Claudette.
Claudette had gone in for an annual check-up at Cats Limited of West Hartford and they had recommended Kim Thomas and West Hartford Pet Sitters.
We called Kim on very short notice, and she was able to fit Claudette into her schedule. Kim visited with us just before we left town in order to meet Claudette, learn her routines, and receive all of our detailed instructions. I immediately felt that we had made the right decision in turning Claudette’s care over to her.
Our vacation was wonderful and Claudette was obviously well cared for. Kim provided us with a detailed report of her visits, which helped us understand the services she was providing. It made me feel good to know that Kim was looking out for things while we were many miles away.

I just want to express our thanks for the excellent service we received while we were out of town. My husband and I have had concerns in the past about leaving our "kids" (2 dogs) with others, especially our new puppy. “We’ve been so pleased with the service provided by West Hartford Pet Sitters. We have two dogs – one of them is a particularly “challenging” (but oh-so-lovable!) Jack Russell rescue dog who doesn’t warm up quickly to people he doesn’t know. Kim and Wayne really took the time to know him and our other dog before our first pet sitting experience. They sat down at the dogs’ level, played ball and slowly let the dogs get to know them. It really put our minds at ease.
We feel confident leaving our dogs in the care of West Hartford Pet Sitters when we travel. We know they’re in good hands, and Kim and Wayne are great about our calls to check in on them while we’re out. Other pet sitters in the past had either ignored instructions to provide us telephonic status during our trip or seemed annoyed when we called to check in … not Kim and Wayne. They are happy to give us an update and let us relax knowing the dogs are doing well. They’re also great about following any instructions we give them whether it’s related to the dogs or to the house (mail, plants, etc.)
Finally, we always love coming home to the “report card” Kim and Wayne provide on the dogs. It’s nice to know what they’ve been up to while we’re out – usually lots of walking, playing and treats!”

With what we’ll call a “high maintenance” cat, I was always concerned about leaving him in the care of others - both for his and the caretaker’s sake! I was immediately reassured as soon as I saw Kim interact with him, and it was obvious that she has a great deal of experience with animals. On one occasion, I had to go away overnight on short notice. At the time, the kitty was recovering from a minor injury. Kim offered expert care including administering antibiotics – no easy task! She even took the time to call me to let me know how he was doing. When I returned from my trip, he was relaxed and content. I highly recommend West Hartford Pet Sitters for anyone who wants to know their pets are in good care, and for peace of mind while they are away.
